About Karen

Karen has taught English language arts across a wide range of learning levels, including gifted, advanced, college-preparatory, standard, learning-support, emotional-support, and autistic-support classrooms. Her long career includes classroom teaching, curriculum development, private tutoring, mentoring first-year teachers, and supporting students in both in-person and virtual learning environments.

Teaching Experience

High School English Language Arts Teacher

Karen taught grades 9–12 English for more than three decades, including enriched, college-preparatory, standard, and in-class support courses. She worked in traditional, virtual, and hybrid formats and collaborated extensively with special education teachers to support students with and without IEP accommodations.

Middle School ELA and Gifted Education

Her recent work includes long-term substitute assignments in seventh- and eighth-grade ELA and grades 7–9 gifted education. She taught writing and presentation projects, executive functioning support, and gifted curriculum while communicating with parents and participating in GIEP meetings.
